About the Author
Philip Mirkin (Felipe,
Philippe, Flipje, etc.) began travelling at three months old
when his parents placed him in a cardboard box in the in the
back of a pink Rambler station wagon and drove him to California.
Medical doctors
believed the child would not survive. After careers as a designer,
cartographer, vagabond, expedition leader, photographer, international
representative and adventure travel operator, Philip put this
book together as a gift to his family and friends.

During the last
fifteen years of travel Philip received amazing support and
encouragement from hundreds of kind people. Having avoided
death at the hands of a paramilitary group, falling asleep
at the wheel, and many other near death experiences it became
imperative to share these images, stories and poetry before
it was too late.
The author divides his year between Central California, the
Four Corners (where he continues to offer customized adventure
travel as well as detailed trip design), Europe, and the remote
locations overseas.
